Cops arrested an alleged burglar after an eagle-eyed neighbor saw the man fleeing a Fort Greene apartment building.

The victim, a 24-year-old woman, reported to police that someone had broken into her apartment just before midnight on Sunday, March 3, stealing her television and several items of clothing.

Despite noticing the thief as he left her apartment, it was a nearby neighbor who was able to provide police with a description of the man after he allegedly saw the suspect leaving the Adelphi Street building with his loot worth $1,950.

Cops picked up a 36-year-old Prospect Lefferts Gardens’ man in connection with the burglary the following day.

Crime is largely down across the board in Fort Greene’s 88th Precinct, according to Police Department data. As of March 10, when the most recent data is available, six of the seven major crime categories — including robberies and burglaries — are either down or the same when compared to 2023.
