Going ‘Yard’! Cool Gowanus pop-up parties are back!

The BKLYN Yard is dead! Long live the BKLYN Yard!

The popular DJ-driven dance parties, known as Sunday Best, are indeed returning to the grassy Carroll Street lot bordering the Gowanus Canal this Sunday, two weeks after a production company which leased the property announced its lease would not be renewed.

The property’s owner confirmed on Wednesday that he has an agreement with the DJs from Sunday Best, Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin and Doug Singer, for afternoon dance parties.

“We are beyond happy to announce that we are taking a stab at bringing Sunday Best back to the very tree-specked, canal-side lot at 400 Carroll St. where we started this season and spent the past two years,” the DJs said in a statement on their Web site.

The announcement ends some speculation for the relocation of dozens of events that had been scheduled at the Yard through the summer. MeanRed Productions, the company that has booked programming at The BKLYN Yard for the past four years, has not released locations for summer events rescheduled from the space.

Representatives from MeanRed confirmed that they are looking at parks in Greenpoint and indoor spaces in Bushwick to move other concerts and parties, though they appear not to be involved with the current arrangement at the Yard.

There will be no bar on the site and alcohol will not be permitted, as the DJs are urging guests to leave their booze at home. If you’re hungry, Sunday Best will have you covered, as food vendors will be serving snacks and iced treats for sale, and the group’s globe-size disco ball will be spinning from the trees once again.

Sunday Best (400 Carroll St., at the Gowanus Canal in Carroll Gardens) June 20, 4 pm. Tickets are $8 with RSVP, $12 (day of show). RSVP to rsvp@sundaybestnyc.com. For info, visit www.sundaybestnyc.com.
