Big news!

Bishop Kearney High School has some big tidings to tell — freshman Emily Perry has been awarded the very first ever Brian Moore Scholarship.

Emily is the daughter of a retired New York City Police Department officer. The scholarship was established in 2016 to honor New York City Police Detective First Grade Brian Moore. Detective Moore was killed in 2015 while working undercover in Queens.

Irene Christensen Moore, Brian’s mother, is a member of the Bishop Kearney class of 1976. Going forward the scholarship will be awarded each year to an incoming freshman.

Bishop Kearney also announced that Winifred Radigan was elected as the new chairwoman of the Board of Directors. She is a graduate of Bishop Kearney and brings more than 40 years of experience to the position. Winifred has a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph’s College, a master’s in English from Hunter college, and she completed her post-graduate work at St. John’s University and Columbia Teachers College.

Standing O sends congratulations and good luck to Emily Perry and Winifred Radigan.
