Governor helps celebrate Sukkot on Kane st.

Governor David Paterson joined the faithful in recanting traditional tales, singing festive songs and displaying model dwellings when he stopped by the Kane Street Synagogue to help usher in the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Rites and festivity were the lessons of the day for the state’s chief executive officer as he helped mom, dad and the kids hail the harvest observance at the community temple, 236 Kane Street.

The week-long revel, also called the Feast of the Tabernacles or the Feast of the Ingathering, celebrates the fortitude of the Jewish people, who sought refuge in homemade dwellings called “sukkahs” while wandering through the wilderness after being expelled from Egypt.
