To The Editor:
Students cut schools for Brooklyn-Queens Day in Manhattan Beach, but thanks to the expertise and professionalism of Captain Mastrokostas and his staff of the 61 Precinct, it was just as peaceful as any other day.
Some of the board members of the Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Association (MBNA), and myself, drove through the neighborhood during the course of the day, and we witnessed children playing in the park, families on the beach, bicycle riders and folks walking, all in the comfort and safety we have all come to expect and enjoy so much in our community.
I met with the captain on Irwin Street and Oriental Boulevard where he set up an RV, which served as temporary headquarters for the 61 Precinct. Along with Sergeant Doyle, Officer Grant and Community Board 15 Chairperson Terry Scavo, we all observed the fine and peaceful manner in which the police handled the situation.
We are truly grateful to have the 61 Precinct patrol our community, and we extend out heartfelt thanks to the captain and his staff from the entire neighborhood.
