The Grand Street Campus football team grabbed its first win of the season with a 21–8 showing against Boys & Girls High School on Sept. 17.
The Wolves — playing under acting head coach Brian Ellis — bounced back after a disappointing showing in the season opener against Erasmus Hall, settling into a rhythm on both sides of the ball with ease.
Boys & Girls jumped out to an early lead, but Grand Street answered in the second half and took control of the game with a 38-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Gibbs Seraphin added a late-game touchdown run as well, as the junior running back barrelled into the end zone for the game’s final score
Grand Street returns to the gridiron on Sept. 23, facing off against an undefeated Midwood squad at home.
Of course, the Wolves weren’t the only squad to notch a victory on the field — a handful of Brooklyn’s top squads stepped into the football spotlight with strong showings. Here’s the wrap-up of the last week of high-school football in the borough:
Midwood 36

The Hornets, led by quarterback Tyshawn Young, cruised to a second-straight win. The junior racked up 200 yards through the air, completing nine passes, including a touchdown to Dontae McGriff. Young also ran for 44 yards and another touchdown on just five carries.
Sean Cameron led the defensive charge with a team-high eight tackles, while Carl Robinson returned a kick for 80 yards and added a special-teams touchdown.
Franklin K. Lane 38

Shakel Clarke completed five of eight pass attempts for 67 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Knights to a lopsided victory. Lane’s ground game was also a force to be reckoned with, as eight different players recorded at least one carry. Clarke, however, led the offensive effort again, notching a team-high 75 yards on six carries.

The Orange Wave racked up 276 offensive yards, including 197 yards on the ground, holding on for a slim victory. Dwight Adams was nearly unstoppable on the ground, breaking the century mark with 115 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Erasmus Hall 27

Oniel Stanbury threw for 112 yards and Andrew Howell rushed for 108 yards as the Dutchmen improved to 2–0 on the season. Kesshawn Abraham emerged as Stanbury’s favorite target, racking up 112 receiving yards and finding the end zone once on four total catches.

There were touchdowns for everyone as the Golden Knights rolled to a victory on Sept. 17. Six different players found the end zone, including Jatelle Wilcher who scored twice on the ground. He also racked up 71 yards rushing, while Zachary James chipped in 86 rushing yards of his own.
