Birthday party gone wrong
Someone shot and killed a man at a birthday bash for a friend on W. 13th Street on Aug. 21, police said.
The 30-year-old man was at the soiree near Avenue V at 1:30 am when he was shot multiple times. He was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:07 am, cops said.
Check-hate
Police arrested a man who they say punched and robbed an elderly man several times during a game of chess on Surf Avenue on Aug. 21, cops said.
The 77-year-old victim told police that the two men had a verbal dispute over a chess move near W. Fifth Street at 7 am that soon escalated to violence. The suspect struck the victim several times in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness, said cops.
When the victim woke up, $500 was missing from his pocket, police said.
Three on one
Three brutes repeatedly punched, kicked, and stabbed a man on Neptune Avenue on Aug. 21, police said.
The 28-year-old victim was near near Brighton Seventh Street at at 3:20 am when the trio struck. He was wounded and taken to Lutheran Hospital with serious injuries, cops said.
Big score
A burglar ransacked a man’s W. Fifth Street apartment on Aug. 19 and took off with $15,000, police said.
The victim told police that he returned home to his apartment between West and Neptune avenues from work at 3:30 pm and noticed the door was ajar. The victim said he locked the apartment door before leaving for work, police said.
With friends like these
Three creeps harassed a woman and snatched her cellphone on Brighton First Road on Aug. 17, said police.
The victim told police she knew the men and had a verbal dispute with the trio at 1:29 pm before one man swiped her iPhone from her hand. One of the other nogoodniks acted as look out, police said.
Knicked knickers
An opportunistic thief swiped a man’s wallet and shorts he left on the beach near W. Fifth Street on Aug. 19 while he went for a dip in the ocean, said police.
The victim went for a swim at 4 pm and when he came out by Riegelmann Boardwalk, realized his shorts and wallet with his credit cards inside were gone, cops said.
Going nowhere fast
Pilferers removed four tires and rims from a man’s car on Shell Road on Aug. 18, said police.
The victim left the vehicle out overnight near Neptune Avenue and when he returned the next day at 7:30 pm he discovered he was left wheel-less, said cops.
Where’s my car?
A thief drove off with a man’s car parked on Brighton 12th Street on Aug. 21, said police.
The victim told police that his wife went to get their car, which was parked near Ocean View Avenue, at 6 pm, only to find the gray Honda Pilot gone.
Nightmare commute
A lout stole a sleeping man’s wallet and cellphone on a Coney Island-bound N train on Aug. 21, said police.
The victim got on the train at the Eighth Street Station and woke up at Stillwell Avenue at 4:10 am to discover his wallet and phone had been removed from his hands.
