Maimed at McDonald’s
Talk about an un-Happy Meal: A gunman opened fire at a 20-year-old at a Coney Island Avenue McDonald’s on March 6, hitting his victim in the groin.
Witnesses told police that the victim was sitting inside a car parked at the McDonald’s parking lot on Avenue U at 1 am when the gunman riddled several cars — including the victim’s — with bullets.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The gunman sped off, leaving several damaged cars in his wake, witnesses told police.
Corner confrontation
More violence erupted on Coney Island Avenue before the day was out on March 6.
Hours after a man was shot in the groin at the McDonald’s, a 27-year-old man was arrested for attacking a 34-year-old male with an umbrella near Avenue U.
The victim sustained a deep cut this his neck as a result of the 9:13 pm attack.
Cashing out
A 33-year-old thief was arrested on March 2 after a botched robbery attempt on E. 34th Street.
The victim was between Flatbush Avenue and Avenue I in Midwood at 6:15 pm when the thief ran up and punched him in the face.
“Give me that money,” the thief demanded as he reached into his waistband as if he had a gun. The thief then ran off empty-handed, only to be arrested a short time later.
Stamped out
Two postal thieves were apprehended on March 3 after they were caught looting mail boxes on Dahill Road.
Witnesses told police that the thieves pilfered mail between Quentin Road and Kings Highway at about 2 pm. One of the thieves rummaged through mail boxes while his accomplice sat in a nearby car, acting as a lookout.
Both were arrested for petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Cell swipe
A thief snagged a cellphone from a 60-year-old man celebrating at an Avenue U club on March 4.
The victim said he was partying with friends at the Penthouse, which is between Ocean Avenue and E. 21st Street, at 3 pm when he left his phone on a table. When he turned back to it a few minutes later, it was gone.
Car looted
A crook broke into a 2009 Nissan Maxima parked on Avenue U on March 3, but only made off with the key to the car’s rim locks.
The car was sitting parked between Batchelder and Ford streets at 11 pm when it was broken into.
Car bully
A thug attacked a car parked on E. 19th Street on March 3 — while the owner of the car was inside!
The 57-year-old victim was sitting inside the car, which was parked between Avenue S and T, at 7:30 pm when the unidentified man ran up and smashed the driver’s side window.
Slashed on street
A crew of knife-wielding teens jumped a 15-year-old on Avenue U on Feb. 23, leaving him with a deep gash to his face.
The victim was nearing W. Seventh Street at 8 pm when the suspects attacked, he told police.
Bag grab
A thief made off with a 19-year-old woman’s handbag as she shopped in the Steve Madden shoe store on Kings Highway on Feb. 25.
The victim put her bag down inside the store, which is near E. 14th Street, to try on some footwear a 2:30 pm. A few minutes later the bag — and the credit cards inside — were gone.
What a snake!
A slippery crook snaked his hand into a woman’s handbag during a brief Feb. 26 encounter at the Kings Highway train station.
The 63-year-old woman was on a Q train approaching the station, which is near E. 16th Street, when the stranger bumped into her — taking her wallet in the process.
