Metal goes with cash

A gunman held up a resident of the fourth floor of a Centre Mall apartment building on Feb. 3 as the man took out his garbage, cops said.

The victim was tossing trash into an incinerator chute of the building between Henry and Clinton streets at 7:20 am when the bandit approached him, black handgun drawn, and demanded he fork over his money, according to a report.

The victim turned his wallet over, with $60 inside, and the robber emptied the billfold of cash and took off running, police said.

Thief in the night

A burglar struck an apartment building between Kane and Baltic streets sometime between Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, cops said.

The sneak made it into the apartment sometime between 11:30 pm on Feb. 1 and 8:15 am the next day through the front door, with no sign of forced entry, according to law enforcement officials. Taken were a $1,400 tablet computer, an external hard drive worth $90, and a black Specialized bike worth $850, a report says.

Threshold delivery

Cops collared a delivery man who they say stole the motorized bike of a fellow comrade-in-delivery on Huntington Street on Jan. 31, according to cops.

Both runners showed up to the same building between Smith and Court streets at 8:50 pm, bearing food for separate apartments, police said. The victim took a little longer with his transaction, and when he left the building he found his $1,420 motorized bike had vanished, a report says.

Officers located the suspect with the bike outside a Court Street restaurant at 10:44 pm later that night, and slapped bracelets on him after he admitted to stealing it, police said.
