Happy Easter, everyone
Thousands attended the annual Good Friday procession across the Brooklyn Bridge. The holiest day on the Christian calendar, Good Friday marks the day of Christ’s crucifixion. The cross was carried by Frank Simmonds of St. Patrick’s Church in Bay Ridge.

Hundreds turned out for the annual “Way of the Cross” procession over the Brooklyn Bridge on Friday — Good Friday, to Christmas.

The day commemorates Christ’s crucifixion, whereas Easter Sunday marks Jesus’s resurrection from the dead — a central belief of Christian faith.
