As part of the "Best of The Ottawa
Animation Festival 2004" at BAMcinematek on March 30, Jennifer
Shiman’s "The Shining in 30 Seconds, Re-Enacted by Bunnies"
will be screened.
In Shiman’s exceedingly short movie, she deftly spoofs the plot
of Stanley Kubrick’s cult-classic film and our own fear upon
first watching it in 1980. Somehow a bunny just isn’t as terrorizing
as an ax-wielding Jack Nicholson reducing a bathroom door to
splinters with the tongue-in-cheek announcement, "Heeere’s
Johnny!" (See the wife, Wendy bunny, quivering at left.)
The films, which were culled from 111 that were screened in the
competition held Sept. 22-26, 2004 in Ottawa, Ontario, will be
shown at 6:50 pm and 9:15 pm at the Brooklyn Academy of Music
(30 Lafayette Ave. at Ashland Place in Fort Greene). The animation
is showcased in a variety of forms: music videos, animated shorts,
TV series and commercials, Internet series and more.
Tickets are $10. For more information, visit www.bam.org
or call (718) 636-4100.
