Police are looking for the hate-filled wall scrawler who wrote the words “F–k Jews” on a new sign outside Congregation Chabad of Windsor Terrace.
Congregants at the Prospect Avenue house of worship said that they had just placed the sign outside the center ten days ago — at around the same time they had dedicated the new Torah.
The desecration, which was left in black magic marker, was found at about 8:30 a.m. on September 23, police were told.
Members of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force were investigating the crime as “possibly biased in nature.”
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

A low crime week capped off a low crime year for the 78th Precinct, which is celebrating a nearly 10 percent drop in crime as of September 13.
According to recently released NYPD CompStat statistics, all of the major crime categories have seen reductions except for car thefts, which were up 43.8 percent (48 in 2008 to 69 in 2009). The crime category with the greatest number of reductions was assault, which saw a nearly 25 percent fall for the year (53 vs. 40). Robberies were down by nine percent (96 vs. 87).
Police said that the crime reduction trend continued over the last month, although the number of robberies were up slightly from 11 in mid-August to mid-September to 12 during the same four weeks this year.
It’s one thing to have your bike burgled while it’s stationary. It’s another thing entirely to have something taken off your bike while you’re riding it somewhere.
Whether by design or accident, that feat was accomplished last week when a thief swiped a bag from the back of a 57-year-old woman’s bike while she pedaled along Sixth Avenue between Berkeley Place and Union Street.
The woman said that she was nearing the intersection at 2 p.m. on September 15 when a black car rolled up next to her.
A man reached out from the car, grabbed the bag and sped off, the woman told police, who are currently in the process of tracking the crafty felon down.
A 68-year-old avoided becoming a crime statistic last week when he ran away from two thieves who pulled a gun on him on Third Street last week.
The victim said that he was walking down Third Street from Eighth Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. on September 11 when he felt someone creeping up behind him.
When he turned around, two black males were behind him. One of them pulled a firearm and demanded everything he had.
“Don’t try to run,” the thief said.
The victim quickly dismissed the advice and ran off down the street.
The surprised thieves ran off as well — in the opposite direction, officials said.
A thief ran off with a woman’s wallet as she entered the Seventh Avenue train station last week.
The woman said that she was on the Eighth Avenue side of the station at 8:25 a.m. and was just about to swipe her MetroCard through the turnstile when an unidentified male snagged the wallet out of her hand.
The thief then ran out of the station with the small score — besides a few credit cards, only a $1 bill was in the wallet when it was taken.
A 54-year-old President Street woman returned home last week to discover that someone had raided her jewelry box.
Police said that the woman was approaching her apartment near Fifth Avenue a 11 p.m. on September 10 when she realized that someone had picked the lock to her front door, which was left damaged.
It’s estimated that over $20,000 in jewelry was swiped from the home, including 100 pairs of earrings, 30 necklaces and eight watches.
