Haunted Hotel

Halloween comes early this year for New York City College of Technology’s (City Tech) Gravesend Inn — a Haunted Hotel. The general public may “check in” to this theme park-quality attraction October 16 and continue doing so through October 31, at the Voorhees Theatre, 186 Jay Street (north of Tillary) in Downtown Brooklyn.

“The audience for this spooky extravaganza has increased to the point that we needed to add more dates to accommodate everyone,” says Professor David Smith, chair of City Tech’s entertainment technology department. Its students and faculty provide design, construction and operating support for this high-tech event, which as been thrilling children and adults alike since 2001.

Theatreworks, the College’s resident theatrical troupe, produces this spectacular Halloween happening and supplies the actors who convincingly act out the parts of Gravesend Inn’s macabre employees, skeletons, gypsies, pirates, ghosts and their chill-inducing kindred.

The performance dates and times are as follows: October 16 from 1-5 p.m., October 18 from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., October 23 from 1-5 p.m.,, October 24 from 1-5 p.m., October 25 from 6-9 p.m., October 30 from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and October 31 from 1-5 p.m., and 6-9 p.m.
