Heart of Brooklyn (HOB), a partnership of six leading cultural institutions in central Brooklyn, welcomes Carol Enseki as its newest board president. Enseki is a founding Heart of Brooklyn board member, and the long-standing president of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Avenue at St. Mark’s Avenue.
Heart of Brooklyn’s unique governance structure provides the director of each participating cultural institution the opportunity to lead the HOB board for two years. Enseki will take over the presidency from Arnold Lehman, director of Brooklyn Museum, who has helmed Heart of Brooklyn since July 2006.
Heart of Brooklyn’s director, Ellen F. Salpeter, commented, “Having just completed our second strategic planning process, I look forward to working closely with Carol on its implementation. Her stewardship of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum during its recent expansion and her commitment to partnerships and community is exemplary. We are fortunate to have her leadership.”

Enseki joined the Brooklyn Children’s Museum in 1989 and has served as its president since 1997. Under her leadership, the museum launched a capital campaign in 1999, which has generated more than $70 million in public and private funds, to support a major expansion of the institution’s endowment, programs, and facility, set to reopen in September 2008 with all-new exhibitions.
