Heights iTour

Until now, tourists roaming through Brooklyn Heights were immediately recognizable thanks to their bulging fanny packs and unwieldy maps. But not anymore!

Thanks to “CityListen Audio Tour,” a self-guided trek that downloads to any MP3 player, tourists can roam the borough with ear buds blocking out all the noise and a dazed look in their eyes.

In short, they’re just like us!

Company founder Jonathan Paisner, who designed the 45-minute Brooklyn Heights tour, explained his inspired idea, “How else can people use [iPods] other than listening to music? That was where it started.”

Kicking off at Borough Hall (pictured), the tour — which includes an audio component and downloadable PDF map — winds through the neighborhood, stopping at the Promenade, and other, lesser-known points of interest like the former Brooklyn Trust Company bank on Clinton Street.

So whether the listener is a tourist, or a Brooklynite looking to save a buck and vacation locally, the tour offers tidbits for everyone.

The Brooklyn Heights edition of “CityListen Audio Tour” ($7.95) can be downloaded at www.citylisten.com.
