Here’s a hairy situation

Hairy situation

A man stole more than $150 in hair care equipment from the Walgreens at the corner of Atlantic and Third avenues on March 4, police said.

According to cops, the man took three curling irons, two blow-dryers and four bottles of shampoo from an enclosed case at around 7:30 am. As he left the store, a patron tried to block the exit, but the 6-foot-3 perp lifted him off the ground, pushed him into the door, and said, “Get the f— out of my way!” police said.

The robber may have gotten away, but he left ample evidence behind. Before stealing the hair products, the perp put in for a prescription, using a state benefit card. In addition, the crime was captured by a store security camera.

Defenestration

A man who had been cornered in a string of recent robberies tried to escape from police by jumping out of a Schermerhorn Street motel’s second-floor window on March 2, but he was arrested after a violent and bizarre struggle.

At around 10 am, police tracked the man, who is implicated in at least four Brooklyn robberies, to a room at the Hotel Princess, a motel between Hoyt and Bond streets. When cops moved in on him, he tried to escape by jumping out of a window, but was dazed by the 30-foot fall and was quickly surrounded.

In the ensuing struggle, the perp became violent and uncooperative, kicking his legs to avoid being searched, police said. He then pulled a loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun and allegedly fired one round at the cops.

After finally being subdued, the crook was taken to Kings County Hospital for injuries sustained in his two-story plunge.

Rooftop heist

An office building on Jay Street was the scene of a spectacular heist on March 3 as a burglar broke into several office suites and stole more than $200,000 worth of computer equipment.

Police said that at least one person dropped into the building, between John and Plymouth streets, by breaking through a skylight on the 11-story structure at around 2 am.

Hitting two offices on the 10th floor and another on the 11th floor, the burglar stole 15 computers, including one worth more than $173,000, a projector, and other equipment.

There are no security cameras inside the building, but cops said that a motion detector was set off at 2:20 am.

Arrest by victim

Someone broke into a Pacific Street apartment on March 3, but he couldn’t have picked a worse target — the owner of the apartment is a cop!

Police said that when the officer returned to his building, which is between Third and Fourth avenues, at around 5:40 pm, the burglar was in the process of breaking in. When the perp caught sight of the cop bearing down on him, the he tried to flee, wildly swinging a hammer at the cop’s head, police said.

A struggle ensued, and the officer pulled the perp, kicking and screaming, to the ground.

The hapless crook’s afternoon outing ended in lockup, but an accomplice, who was not involved in the fight, was not caught.
