Incommunicado
A young woman stopped on July 18 at Lincoln Place to argue with her boyfriend and suffered further communication barriers.
The 17-year-old was walking between Underhill and Washington Avenues at 12:30 am with beau, when they stopped for a lover’s quarrel. That was when the young woman placed her T-Mobile Sidekick on the roof of her car.
When she turned around to retrieve the phone, it was gone. Her misbehaving boyfriend was, alas, not.
Cut and run
A barber shop on Washington Avenue got the buzz on July 17, when an overnight baron skipped the pomade and went straight for the $1,400 in the register.
Sometime after the shop closed at 7 pm, the crook entered through the security gate of the shop, which is between Prospect and Park places. Without causing damage to the window in the basement, he got into the store, pocketed the money, and threw the cash register over the fence behind the building.
Sweet ‘n counter
A popular ice cream joint on Underhill Avenue got some funny money on July 17.
A young woman came into the parlor, which is between St. Johns and Lincoln Place at around 9 pm, where she purchased herself a tasty treat and handed over a phony Jackson. The woman at the register recognized it was a fake right away. When she confronted her, the young woman ran out of the store.
It’s unclear if she got away with the frozen treat.

A man was awfully trusting of strangers with his car on July 17.
The 64-year-old man parked his red Toyota Camry at 1 pm on Lincoln Place between Underhill and Vanderbilt Avenues, leaving his key on the driver’s seat, and his doors unlocked.
When he returned 10 minutes later, the car was gone.
