Bright lights, European styling and surround
sound stereos are not only found at the New York International
Auto Show, but at the new Hollywood Tan in Bay Ridge. In addition
to the usual beds, this salon features five state-of-the-art
devices that represent the pinnacle of tanning technology Europe
has to offer.
The Ergoline XTT, short for X-treme Tan Tec, is "the spaceship,"
according to owners Mark Binder, Stan Makarov and Mike Verbitskiy.
It resembles a futuristic burgundy Barcalounger in feet-up position.
The Sportarredo HPO is a stand-up tanning booth that looks like
it could beam up Captain Kirk as well as tan your hide, while
the company’s "Extasy" model is large enough to accommodate
three people (the implications of which we will leave to the
imagination).
All devices are equipped with powerful fans, CD players and satellite
radios.
Perpetually bronzed Nina Rafaniello, who has worked at several
tanning salons before being hired by this one, is excited about
the new machines.
"If I was to ever fade, I think I would freak," she
said.
