Ménage a trouble

Two hustlers cleaned out a Hicks Street apartment on Sept. 17 after the tenant brought them home and then passed out on the couch.

The victim told cops that he fell asleep on the couch after bringing two women back to his place near Poplar Street at 4 am after a long night of drinking. When he woke up, the women — and with his laptop, cufflinks, guitar and other valuables — were gone.

Pain in Spain

A thief ruined a Spanish woman’s vacation, getting her bag near Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sept. 12.

The woman said that she left the purse unattended near the corner of Furman and Old Fulton streets at 9 pm. When she returned her passport, iPod and $200 were missing.

Cradle robber

A thug stole a wallet from an unattended stroller on Fulton Street on Sept. 14.

The victim told cops that she left the wallet inside of her baby buggy near Nevins Street at 1:43 pm, and discovered it was missing when she returned just 10 minutes later.

Road report

Thieves went to town on parked cars and bikes last week, swiping at least four vehicles. Here are the details:

• A thief stole a blue motorcycle from Third Avenue near State Street sometime between 5 pm on Sept. 16 and 11 pm on Sept. 18.

• A thief swiped a blue station wagon from Bergen Street between Smith and Hoyt streets sometime between 9:20 am on Sept. 16 and 5:30 pm on Sept. 18.

• A thief stole a Dodge Caravan from Bond Street near Warren Street sometime between 5 pm on Sept. 17 and 2:20 pm on Sept. 17.

• A thief swiped a 1992 Honda Prelude from Pacific Street between Hoyt and Bond streets sometime between 8:30 am and 9:40 am on Sept. 12.

Wheely bad

A thief snatched a $1,500 bicycle on Montague Street on Sept. 18.

The bike’s owner said that he had locked the Cannondale bike at 3 pm and went into a nearby bank. When he returned 20 minutes later, the expensive pennyfarthing was missing.

It’s T-rible

A fashion-minded thief stole T-shirts from a van on Fourth Avenue on Sept. 13.

The vehicle’s owner said that he parked the van at 3:30 pm and returned an hour later to find that a door lock was broken and several shirts were missing.

Pick pocket

An Oliver Twist wannabe swiped a wallet on Jay Street on Sept. 16.

The victim told police that she was near Willoughby Street at 1:45 pm when she felt a hand reach into her purse and snatch the wallet.

Mac attack

A thief stole a laptop from an office on Water Street on Sept. 12.

The computer’s owner said that she left the $1,500 Macbook on her desk at 4:30 pm, but it was missing when she returned two hours later.

Fertile ground

A thief stole a wallet from an Atlantic Avenue store on Sept. 11. The victim told police that the wallet was swiped while she shopped at the Fertile Crescent near Fourth Avenue at around 3 pm.

Brief business

A brazen thief stole a federal probation officer’s ID cards and briefcase from a Cadman Plaza diner on Sept. 16.

The officer said that he left the sachel in the diner’s bathroom at 10:45, and went to retrieve his car from a nearby garage. When he returned to the restaurant, near Middagh Street, half an hour later, the briefcase, his identification cards and $300 were missing.

Camera obscura

A thief stole a camera and clothing from a Warren Street apartment on Sept. 16.

The resident told cops that he left his home between Smith and Hoyt streets at 11 am. When he returned 24 hours later, his camera and a $600 jacket were missing.


An unholy thief stole a phone from a synagogue on Cadman Plaza West on Sept. 15.

The victim told police that she left the mobile in a bathroom at Congregation Mt. Sinai, near Hicks Street, at 11 am. Later that day, she received a call from someone who asked, “How much is it worth to you to get your phone back?” according to police.

Gym rat

A thief stole a phone from a gym locker on Duffield Street on Sept. 17.

The victim told cops he left the locker, inside of a gym near Fulton Street, at 5 pm. When he finished his work out, he returned and found that his cellphone was missing.

The Planet Fitness gym has been in the police blotter at least six times for similar crimes since 2010.
