Hit the brakes! Bicycle thief nabbed on Avenue K

70th Precinct

Midwood-Flatbush

Bicycle boob

Cops say a thief broke into the garage behind an Avenue K home on Oct. 30, taking a bicycle — only to get arrested a short time later.

The homeowner near E. 28th Street told police that he heard his garage open just before 12:30 pm. When he went to investigate, he realized that the bike had been taken.

Cops from the 70th Precinct caught up with the thief rolling away from the scene a few minutes later, charging him with burglary, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Campus Rd. mugging

Police arrested a 20-year-old man they said beat up another man on Campus Road during a botched Oct. 28 cellphone robbery.

The victim was nearing Amersfort Place at 1:36 pm when the suspect punched him repeatedly, ordered him to fork over his phone, and ran off empty-handed.

But the thief didn’t get far: cops caught up with him a short time later, charging him with attempted robbery and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Nostrand hold up

A 21-year-old man who cops say was connected to an Oct. 9 gunpoint robbery on Nostrand Avenue was arrested.

The victim told police that he was between Foster and Farragut roads at 5 am when two thieves ran up to him with a gun, ordering him to give up his cash, wallet, shirt and belt.

Cops caught up with one of the suspects last week, charging him with robbery and grand larceny.

Mowed down

A motorist ran down a 20-year-old man crossing Coney Island Avenue in Midwood on Oct. 27.

The victim was crossing near Avenue P at 4:49 am when a 1999 Mack truck hit him, although the motorist tried to swerve out of the way to no avail.

Paramedics rushed the victim, who remained unnamed by Tuesday night, to Lutheran Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Senior robbed

A thug jumped a 70-year-old woman as she stepped into her Kensington apartment on Oct. 27, swiping three gold chains from her neck.

Police said that the woman was about to enter her building near the Parade Grounds at 6:30 pm when the suspect followed her inside and attacked.

Shooter search

A gunman opened fire on a crowd on Nostrand Avenue on Oct. 27 — but ended up ventilating a car instead.

Witnesses told police that the victims were approaching Rutland Road at 12:40 am when the suspects fired off a number of shots — but hit no one.
