‘Honest Abe’ will celebrate his 200th birthday at New Utrecht High School, accompanied by the famous ‘14th Brooklyn Regiment’, and then revel on the grounds of a Brooklyn church built when he was just a teenager.
Veteran actor James Hayney will be joined by militia re-enactors as he portrays the nation’s 16th president to mark his bi-centennial, February 12 at the Bensonhurst school, 1601 80th Street.
Hayney’s appearance will be followed by a public performance at historic New Utrecht Reformed Church, 18th Avenue and 84th Street, 7:30 p.m.
“This is just one of the many ways our organization provides ‘Living History’ lessons for the Brooklyn community,” said Robert Buonvino, president of the sponsoring group, Friends of Historic New Utrecht.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
