Brooklyn-based FDR Lodge #613 of the Knights of Pythias will honor Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz at its Second Annual Pythian Recognition Night, December 12, 8:30 p.m. at the “Castle Hall” Midwood Masonic Temple, 1348 East 64th Street, off Ralph Avenue and Avenue N.
Chancellor Commander Jeffrey Sandow announced that the FDR Lodge will recognize the Borough President for outstanding public service and service to the community as a member of the Pythian Order.
“Borough President Markowitz is a member of Criers Lodge and an alumnus of Pythian Camp,” noted FDR’s Alan Krell, Supreme Inner Guard of the order’s Supreme Lodge and the Master of Ceremonies for the program, which will be followed by a special collation.
FDR Lodge #613, a fraternal and social organization, affiliated with the Grand Lodge of New York, supports charities that serve people with special needs, especially children, and social programming for its members. Its past charitable efforts supported such causes as Make-A-Wish, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes and Pythian Camp for underprivileged youth. It also provides merit scholarships for children and grandchildren of members. It is currently conducting a membership drive.
