Hopped up crime

Malt assault

Cops locked up a 37-year-old suspected of snatching a bottle of Olde English malt liquor from a Bushwick Avenue bodega and threatening the life of an employee who tried to stop him.

The larcenous lush grabbed the bottle of booze — valued at $3 by police — at around 1:23 am on Feb. 23 and attempted to flee.

When a worker intervened, the deranged drinker brandished a knife and said, “I will close the f—ing place and kill you if you try to stop me.”

He then dashed out of the grocery, which is between Boerum and McKibbin streets, but didn’t get far before police nabbed him.

Metropolitan mug

A crook repeatedly punched a 30-year-old in the face on Metropolitan Avenue until he handed over his wallet in a brutal Feb. 24 robbery.

The thug approached the victim from behind between Catherine Street and Morgan Avenue at around 8 pm and slugged the victim in the head.

“Give me your s—t,” the crook said after landing the blow.

As the victim attempted to fork over his wallet — which contained credit cards, IDs, and $10 — the mugger hit him twice more in the face, then grabbed the goods and fled.

Loansharks

Cops nabbed a heat-packing thug suspected of attempting to collect dues from a stranger on Feb. 24.

The alleged mugger and an accomplice confronted a 38-year-old victim at the corner of Berry and South Second streets near the Kellogg’s Diner at around 9:20 pm.

“Gimme that money you owe me,” the crook said, lifting up his jacket to display a firearm.

The victim never saw the gun, but he forked over $280, according to cops, who caught a 19-year-old suspect later that night.

Computer bugs

Thieves ransacked at least two Williamsburg apartments for computers this week. Here are the graphic details:

• A Manhattan Avenue apartment was burgled of three laptops and $500 on Feb. 23 after thieves pushed through the front door between Maujer and Grand streets at around 3 pm.

• Burglars broke into a Hope Street apartment on Feb. 24 and snatched an Apple laptop.

The thieves got into the apartment between 8:40 am and 7:15 pm and grabbed the iBook computer and its charger before fleeing from the residence, which is between Roebling and Havemeyer streets.
