Terrifying mugging

A vicious mugger kicked a woman to the ground and threatened her life in a brutal July 28 attack.

The perp knocked over the 34-year-old victim as she walked to her car at 12:20 am at the corner of Columbia and Lorraine streets and pressed an object against her back.

The thief then grabbed the victim’s purse, which contained an ID, a check stub, and $300, and said he would kill her if she alerted police.

“Better not call the cops or you won’t make it out of Red Hook alive,” the crook said, according to investigators.

The thief got into the residence, which is between Hicks and Columbia streets, by climbing through an open kitchen window at around 2:14 pm.

Once inside, the crook grabbed an Xbox, a controller, a laptop, two iPods, two cameras and lenses, $70, a bag full of coins, an St. Anthony pendant on a silver chain, and a Rawlings baseball mitt and a Wilson glove.

Gun gone

Cops say they cuffed a man carrying a loaded gun and marijuana at the corner of Court and Mill streets on July 12.

Officers reportedly spotted a man with a firearm at around 11:30 pm and confronted the 22-year-old suspect, who allegedly resisted arrest.

After a brief struggle, police searched the suspect and claim they recovered 13 bags of marijuana.

The suspect was also slapped with a felony charge for allegedly filing off the serial number on the handgun.

Greens for green

A crook stole a produce deliveryman’s loot as he left a Smith Street grocery store on July 13.

The victim was returning to his truck after delivering vegetables near the corner of Baltic Sreet at 1:15 pm when a perp approached him from behind.

“Give me your bag,” the thief demanded.

The victim forked over his bounty and the crook fled with the cash.

Screwy break-in

A thief ransacked a Subaru parked on Baltic Street overnight on July 13 and left the tools of the trade inside the vehicle.

The crook broke into the locked vehicle, which was between Henry and Clinton streets, between 5 pm and 10:45 am the next day and made off with a navigational system, a phone charger, a gift card, and some quarters.

The perp left behind a screwdriver believed to have been used to get inside the blue 2001 ride.

Bus stop bandit

A crook stole a soon-to-be-straphanger’s cellphone while he waited for the bus on July 24.

The thief grabbed the white iPhone from the 27-year-old man’s hand at the corner of Van Brunt and Pioneer streets at 6 pm and fled.

Not a peep

Someone vandalized the peephole of a Baltic Street residence on July 22.

The mischief-maker damaged the traditional home security device between Bond and Nevins streets between 10:20 pm and 11:30 pm, a 62-year-old resident told cops.

Music man

A musical criminal raided a car parked at King and Richards streets on July 29.

The thief pried his way into the blue 1970 Volkswagen between noon and 11:30 pm and stole a Kenwood car stereo, a CD book loaded with 100 compact discs, and an iPod.
