Helen Klein, I love you and all your “great” reporting, but please don’t take away my plastic bags.
When I moved into this beautiful building in 1955 it was pristine. When the city stopped burning garbage, everything changed, we were immediately over taken by mice, roaches and rats. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to go back to incinerators, I remember the black soot – on everything.
But, the only way to contain the “pollution” from these creepy crawlies is plastic.
We still have some tenants who do not encase every drop of food and garbage in plastic. Their apartments are still infested, causing problems for us all.
I’m a born and raised environmentalist, who was taught that our greatest gift from God is water. I’ve also learned that everything has a consequence – like ethanol which has caused food shortages the world over. I could go on and on, but please, until I know of another solution, I need my plastic bags.
