As it becomes harder during this troubled economy to put food on the kitchen table, and food banks are seeing an increased number of visitors, the Marine Park IS 278 Builders Club decided to end the school year by holding a food drive to benefit City Harvest, a non−profit organization helping to feed hungry New Yorkers.

This is the second time IS 278, 1925 Stuart Street, has held a benefit for City Harvest, representatives of which state that summer is one of its busiest times.

School aides and teachers, including Brett Fienman and Danielle Powers, spent time discussing the need to help others during their classes, and the students, in turned, pitched in to help those less fortunate.

According to Builders Club Faculty Advisor Regina Kieran, “The success of this event was truly school wide. The support of our staff and students is what has made all the Builders Club’s projects this year so successful.”
