I have several points to ponder this week.
I am tired of seeing postings of pictures of plastic bags in water and pictures of jelly fish in the water and the inability of marine animals to tell the difference.
So I’m asking, if research scientists can invent edible underwear; engineered lumber; 3D printing of ears, skin, and other body parts, then why can’t they come up with a cheep, biodegradable plastic bag that turns into peppermint-flavored marine food when it hits the water?
Come on you research scientists out there – you know you can do it.
Let’s get cracking.
Next on the list, and this is a big one. Please stop fanning the fires of hysteria over immigration raids. I know it sells papers, and ad time for online presence, and it boosts those ratings but please stop, we don’t need the drama. President Trump is not sending Immigration agents house to house, door to door, pulling out innocent immigrants from their homes in the middle of the night and separating families. And far as I know he has no immediate plans on doing so. He is only deporting those that have previously been deported and those that have committed a crime.
Under President Obama, immigration officials routinely rounded up illegal immigrants who had criminal records — or who had been previously deported and managed to sneak back in, yet no one ever compared Obama to Hitler.
As to our mayor defending New York as a sanctuary city and protecting immigrants who commit “very minor” offenses from deportation: He was asked if grand larceny or drunken driving is a “very minor” offense. He said, “Drunk driving that does not lead to any other negative outcome, I could define as that.” This from the mayor who stated, “The bottom line is, Vision Zero has just begun.”
Mayor DeBlasio insisted “motorists, to slow down, make safe turns and to never drink and drive.,” …in a 2016 NY Post article.
When did “Never Drink and Drive,” become “Drunk driving that does not lead to any other negative outcome”?
I don’t know what he considers not a negative outcome, I think drunk driving has some very negative outcomes such traffic accidents, injury, and death.
“Every 2-hours, three people are killed in alcohol-related highway crashes. The consequences of drinking and driving are arrests, property damage, injuries, and thousands of deaths each year. An estimated 4 million U.S. adults reported driving under the influence of alcohol at least once in 2010 yielding an estimated 112 million alcohol-impaired driving episodes,” this is according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
I don’t really considered those statistics minor.
Not for Nuthin,™ to those that can, invent cheep biodegradable plastic bags — the seals will be grateful.
