Parking wars
Some hothead hurled xenophobic insults at a guy, and then stole his phone from his hand following a roadway altercation on 72nd Street on April 22, police said.
The victim was maneuvering into a parking spot between 21st Avenue and Bay Parkway around 10 pm when the jerk at the wheel of the car behind him yelled something at him, then got out of his vehicle and told the victim to “go back to your country,” police reported.
The victim whipped out his phone to snap a photo of the guy’s license plate, but when he did, the irate commuter grabbed it out of his hand, said “I’ll find you,” and sped off in his car, according to a police report.
Big steal
An opportunistic crook stole a guy’s ride parked in front of an 83rd Street home on April 19, police said.
The driver parked in the driveway of a home between 11th and 12th avenues around 3:20 am and ran in to use the bathroom. He left the keys in the ignition of his luxury car, and when he came out, the ride was nowhere to be found.
The thief also got a cash payday — there was $7,000 sitting in the center console, according to a police report.
Gym rat
A buff sneak broke into a guy’s locker at his Shore Parkway gym on April 21, police said.
The victim locked his wallet in the locker at the gym near 24th Avenue and returned around 6:30 pm following his workout to find the locker door open and damaged.
He discovered all his credit cards were missing. By the time he canceled them, the thief racked up nearly $10,000 in charges, according to a police report.
Smash and grab
A burglar broke into a woman’s W. Third Street apartment on April 24, law enforcement officials said.
The thief smashed his way in through a door leading from the backyard into the apartment between Avenues O and P around 11:30 am, according to police. The housebreaker totally ransacked the place and grabbed $1,150 worth of jewelry before jetting, police said.
