Big thug, little thug
A supermarket clerk got the fright of his life when a thug entered the Eighth Avenue grocery and threatened to kill him unless he opened the register on July 26 — and all the while, the thief’s pre-teen kid was outside the store!
The clerk told cops that all was quiet at the market, which is at 12th Street, at around 8:10 pm, when the 5-foot-6, 114-pound woman entered and screamed, “Open the register or I will f–ing kill you!”
The clerk complied and the lady thief took $200 and fled — accompanied by the pint-sized partner, aged 10 to 12, cops said.
Cops are looking for the thief, who has a lock black pony tail.
Wigging out
A bewigged thief got away with $1,300 from a Fifth Avenue bank on July 21.
Officials from the branch, which is at the corner of 11th Street, told police that the man approached the teller at around 2:45 pm and handed over a note demanding the money — and “no bait/large bills.”
The teller handed over two $100 bills, 20 $20 bills and 14 $50 bills.
Do the math: That was quite a haul.
The 5-foot-8, 130-pound, wig-wearing thief fled northbound on Fifth Avenue.
Camera burg
A thief broke into a 15th Street apartment on July 22 and stole camera equipment, cops said.
The tenant, 33, told cops that she was not in the unit, which is between Second and Third avenues, from 9:15 am until 10 pm, when she came home to discover that her video camera and still camera were gone.
Not hungry
A thief smashed his way into a Fifth Avenue restaurant overnight on July 20, but took only cash and an iPod.
Despite a fully stocked bar and kitchen at the restaurant, which is not only at the corner of Prospect Place, but a great place for Middle-Eastern-influenced dishes, the thief took $200 and the digital music device.
Workers discovered the crime when they showed up at 7 am on July 21.
Drug fix
Cops arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a Butler Street garage to take drugs on July 23.
The resident of the home, which is between near Fourth Avenue, told cops that he noticed the man break into his garage at around 10:45 am. When cops arrived, they soon found the man nearby and arrested him.
Unchristian
A thief stole the bracelets, rings and necklace right off a worker at the Christian Science Reading Room on July 24, cops said.
The victim, 59, told police that a 5-foot-4, 150-pound man with gray hair entered the popular Flatbush Avenue mini-library at around 2:40 and asked for books to read.
When the victim ushered him into the reading room, he pushed her, snatching her jewelry, yelling, “Keep quiet! Keep quiet!”
He then fled towards St. Johns Place.
Moto-madness
At least five vehicles were stolen or broken into in the neighborhood last week. Here is the bad news:
• Someone swiped a man’s Honda motorcycle from a spot on Eighth Avenue between 11th and 12th streets on July 27. The owner told cops he had left the rice-burner there at midnight and it was gone when he returned to it at 11 am.
• A thief got away with a car of about the same book value overnight on July 21 when he stole a 1990 Toyota from a spot on Prospect Place. The owner, who said the car was worth only $100, said he left the car between Sixth and Flatbush avenues at around 7:30 pm and it was gone 12 hours later.
• A thief smashed the window of a car that had been parked on Sixth Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues overnight on July 21, taking a laptop and a satellite-guided navigation system. The owner told cops that he had parked the car there at 7 pm.
• A man watched as two teens smashed the window of his company truck on July 24, taking $500 in tools. The working man told cops that he had parked the car on Eighth Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues at 2:50 pm and watched the thieves — one woman, one man — do their work at 3 pm.
• A thief broke into a woman’s Seventh Avenue home and stole her fancy folding bicycle on overnight on July 24. The woman told cops that the Danon bike was in the foyer of her home between Seventh and Eighth streets at around 7 pm. But the next morning, she found broken glass and a missing bike.
