There are few things that get me up and motivated — one is a fire under my feet, and the other is when I make a great score in the store and manage to buy what I really want for a bargain. I managed both this past weekend. I went to Kohl’s on Sunday just to look around. Much to my amazement there was a whopping, store-wide sale going on in honor of Mother’s Day.
As I walked through the displays, my eye caught sight of the Ninja Nutri blender — an item that I have wanted for quite some time, but which I was far too cheap to buy for myself. At this point, the fire under my feet was lit, and I quickly picked up a box, put it in the wagon, and headed straight for the register — lest I change my mind and put it back.
But my surprise score was yet to come. When the check out woman began ringing up my purchases, she asked, “Do you have the coupon?” When I replied that I didn’t have one, she handed me a scratch-off and said, “Try your luck.”
Lo and behold it was a 20-percent discount on my entire order — plus another $20 in Kohl’s money to use on my next purchase. Now that is what I call a score. I bought the Ninja that I wanted at the price I wanted — plus a few more trinkets for good measure. Nothing like a Ninja blender and jeans to make my day, although a diamond here or there wouldn’t hurt. (Hint to my husband)
My other score was that season 6 of “Game of Thrones” finally premiered on Home Box Office. I won’t spoil it for those that have not had the chance to watch it, but I will say this about the end “What the heck!? Melisandre — what a shock!”
Not for Nuthin™ Thank you Kohl’s for the pre-Mother’s Day bargains and thank you special effects people on Game of Thrones — you really earned your bucks with this one.
