To say the 2008-2009 season has gotten off to a great start for Bishop Kearney High School’s sports teams is certainly an understatement.

The Bishop Kearney Tigers have already won to Diocesan Championships along with a Brooklyn Title. Coach Kristen Wulff’s mighty Kearney Volleyball team ran their unbeaten streak to 182 in capturing their 13th consecutive Brooklyn Championship, knocking off Fontbonne Academy three times this season. Led by Senior Captain Bridget Daulton, the Tigers traveled to Buffalo to compete in the State Championships.

The Kearney Soccer Team also traveled to Buffalo after they won the Diocesan Championship with a 3-0 victory over Fontbonne at Aviator Field, led by Kristena Iudica, Bridged Tennison and Jessica Gargano. Coach Charlie Candela directed the Tigers to their first Soccer Championship in four years.

Not to be outdone, the Kearney Cross Country Track Team also won the Brooklyn Queens Diocesan Championship after capturing the Brooklyn Championships. Meagen Hayes, Mary Gallager, Sarah Donough, Patti Ann Vasquez and Kaitlyn Touhey led the way for Coach John Lovett.

Bishop Kearney High School, 2202 60th Street, is the only Brooklyn girls high school that offers every sport.
