Food addicts will think they died and went to gourmet heaven when the inaugural NYC Food Truck Rally hits Park Slope next Sunday.

As many as two dozen food trucks will invade Grand Army Plaza on May 22 with gourmet lobsters, dumplings, souvlaki, grilled cheese sandwiches — and that’s just the savory treats. There’ll also be plenty of four-wheeled dessert options.

Rallies like these are a nationwide trend, but this will be New York’s first.

“We haven’t really organized anything ourselves,” said David Blanich, who often parks his Stumptown-spewing truck in Park Slope. “It’s going to be a lot of fun, and its good for both the people and the trucks. I’m glad we are catching up with other cities.”

Even though we haven’t had a full-blown rally yet, New Yorkers are certainly obsessive about their favorite trucks, following their hour-by-hour movements on their websites, Facebook, and even on Twitter.

“So many people are having a love affair with food trucks,” said Kim Ima, whose Treats Truck (also known as Sugar) has been hitting the road for four years to wide acclaim. “Some people already plan outings where they go from food truck to food truck during the day. To have an afternoon where they can get all the trucks at the same time ¾ it’s like Christmas.”

Other Brooklyn-based food trucks that will be at the food rally include the Kelvin “Slush” Truck, Red Hook Lobster Pound and the falafel making, Taim Mobile, among others.

“This rally is an opportunity to truly enjoy the food trucks,” said Eugene Patron, press director of the Prospect Park Alliance, which is sponsoring the event. “I mean, the trucks usually make their bread and butter off of lunch as people wolf their food down. But this time, people will really be able to sample the various foods. Of course, this is great because Brooklynites have the most adventurous palates of New Yorkers.”
