Kicked to the curb, as a good thing

Assemblyman Alan Maisel joined members of the Fillmore Gardens Co-op Board to inspect the installation of new curbs in the Fillmore Gardens Community. Assemblyman Maisel was able to secure a grant for $100,000 from New York State to replace missing or broken curbs. The effected streets where the new curbs are being installed are East 59th to East 56th streets, Avenue U to Avenue T and East 53rd to East 57th streets, and Fillmore Avenue to Avenue S. Pictured with Maisel, from left, are Board Members Ed Scafidi, Gloria Trotta, the Assemblyman and Fillmore Garden’s Co-op Board President Bob Snyder. Said Maisel: “These broken curbs have, for many years, presented a very serious safety hazard to pedestrians in the community, many of whom are elderly. I am very glad that we are finally able to correct this dangerous condition in Mill Basin.” Snyder said: “We are very grateful to Assemblyman Maisel for his work to make this project happen. We appreciate his efforts on behalf of our community.”
