Health−smart eco−buffs at Public School 277 received a lesson in the value of personal and environmental preservation from ‘Slim Goodbody,’ himself, when actor Bruce Wilson stopped by with the low−down on how to keep the body and the planet ticking soundly.
Wilson engaged a rapt audience with his energetic, highly−interactive musical show, “Kid Power & the Planet Protectors,” packed with puppets, clever visuals and lots of singing and dancing, using the beloved fictional character, created by John Burstein in 1975.
Also known as the “Superhero of Health,” Slim Goodbody helps children develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to make positive ecological choices through the three realms of the environment: water, earth and air.
Students at the Gerritsen Beach school, 2529 Gerritsen Avenue, learned how to reduce their water usage, help protect endangered species and avoid habitat destruction in addition to receiving information about global warming, sustainability and minimizing their carbon footprint – all in a fun−filled manner.
