Kids for a Better Future, a non−profit organization run by kids, which supports children’s rights all around the world, will hold its Third Annual Walkathon starting at 10:30 a.m., May 9.
The entire walk is once around the 3.35−mile Park Drive Loop in Prospect Park. Meet at Prospect Park on the Park Drive Loop by entering Prospect Park at Ninth street and walk straight ahead until you meet the loop. The Walk will begin at 11 a.m. sharp.
Two teen activists from Bhopal will be there to talk about their work for the rights of children in Bhopal, the work that this walk supports.
Kids for a Better Future supports the rights of the children of Bhopal, India, who suffer dire health problems as a result of the industrial disaster, which took place there 25 years ago.
After a Union Carbide (now owned by Dow Chemical) factory leaked 27 tons of poisonous gases into the air, approximately 10,000 people were killed overnight, and more than 20,000 died to date as a result.

KBF Fundraiser & Violin Performance
There will be a KBF Fundraiser & Violin Performance featuring accomplished violinist and Brooklyn resident Michael Braudy (www.michaelbraudy.com), who will perform Indian classical violin at The Moxie Spot, a family restaurant and play space at 81−83 Atlantic Avenue near Hicks Street, May 17.
The fundraiser will begin at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $3 per head at the door. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to kids who are treated at Sambhavna Clinic, which gives free medical treatment to those affected by the gas disaster 25 years ago and their families, and also those who are ill due to drinking contaminated water.
