A gang raided a 65th Street building and robbed three people at knifepoint inside on March 22, police state.
One victim said he was sitting in the hallway of the apartment complex between 23rd and 24th avenues at 2 pm when three perps came up to him and displayed a blade. The thugs took his phone and $192 in cash, and fled.
Several stories above, another two boys reported that they were hanging out on the roof landing at the same time when three goons in bandanas came up to them and pulled a knife, and took one’s pre-paid phone and the other’s $25. The villains then fled the premises.
Disarming
A dim-witted crook shoved his hand up under his shirt and tried — and failed — to rob an 18th Avenue bodega on March 24, according to cops.
The cashier said that the ne’er-do-well came into the store between 71st and 72nd streets at 9 am, acting like he had a weapon.
“This is a stick-up! Give me the money!” the bad actor said.
The store worker told the moronic mime that she couldn’t open the register, and the would-be crook ran outside, and into the store’s basement. Surveillance tapes show the hapless miscreant leaving the cellar several minutes later without taking anything.
Hulk sack
A burglar busted through the wall of an 86th Street laundromat and cleaned out $2,300 in quarters from inside overnight on March 17, authorities report.
The business owner told cops that he closed up shop between 23rd Avenue and Bay 34th Street at 10 pm. When he returned the next morning, he discovered someone had smashed through the sheetrock wall from next door and taken several bags of change.
Retooled
A thief vaulted the plywood fence of an 86th Street construction site and plundered thousands of dollars worth of power tools inside on March 18, cops say.
The contractor reported closing up the site between Bay 40th and Bay 41st streets at 4:30 pm, and returning at 7 am the next day to find the lock on the gate intact. But inside, he found the chain holding the job box shut broken, and his equipment missing.
Chop and shop
A pillager cut his way into an under-construction 18th Avenue structure and stole tools and copper tubing from inside on March 20, police report.
Workers told police they locked up the fence around the building near the corner of 87th Street at 4 pm. But when they came back, the chain was severed, and their compressor, chop saw, and piping were all stolen.
