Seventeen diverse citywide charities received a financial boost from Brooklyn when Genesis Lodge 64 of the Knights of Pythias held an allocation night in Canarsie, dispensing a total of $10,000 to the non-profits.
The presentations were made during a group meeting at Temple Emanu-el of Canarsie, 1880 Rockaway Parkway, where the money was pledged by the organization’s charitable wing, the Alpha-Genesis Sunshine Foundation.
The funds bolstered the coffers of Angels on the Bay, a children’s charity; Daytop Village, a drug rehabilitation facility; Hatzolah Volunteer Ambulance Corp; Hewlett House for Breast cancer; and the Knights of Pythias Diabetes Foundation.
Other beneficiaries included the Veterans Fund; Operation Hope, which administers food coupons to seniors for the holidays; Sephardic Home for the Aged in Bay Ridge; and Sunrise Day Camp, which serves children with cancer.
