The trio, which ended up wowing the crowd with a nimble-toed dance, was among a group from the Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn hoping to lure aspiring swans to enroll in their famed institution during a Back to School Expo at Kings Plaza Shopping Center where educators and school-oriented organizations received an A-plus for helping ease parents and students into a new academic year on Saturday.
Weary moms and dads took a break from pounding the mall on Flatbush Avenue, off Avenue U, to learn about after-school activities, including gymnastics, dance, and karate, straight from the horse’s mouth. Among the vendors were representatives of Dance with Me, Elizabeth Dance Image, and Dance on T — all in Marine Park — which delivered the lowdown on their programs.
“I discovered everything my kid needed under one roof,” said a visitor, who added that she also received information about innovative education for her child from an etiquette school, and health care from professionals such as Dr. Stephen Rand, an allergist, immunologist and pediatrician.
Representatives from Radio Disney, which co-sponsored the expo with CNG and Kings Plaza, worked the crowd by engaging kids with word games and contests, while students from the Shotokan Karate Center on E. 57th Street and Avenue N gave a martial arts demonstration.
