Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room!
Embattled state Sen. Carl Kruger (D–Mill Basin) didn’t mention his arrest for bribery in his latest “update” to constituents last week, opting instead to let constituents living under a rock — think that everything was hunky-dory in Krugerville.
Getting nabbed for pocketing nearly $1-million in bribes is a pretty memorable event, but not for Kruger, who apparently had selective amnesia as he informed constituents on how he helped restore funding for senior centers and voted for bills that would toughen the domestic violence law.
Kruger also saved space on his one-page bulletin, dated April 4, to decry the 12-percent hike on electricity bills and comment on the $132.5-billion state budget he helped pass as the federal charges hanging over his head made him the Typhoid Mary of Albany.
Also in the update was his attendance at the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush’s annual legislative breakfast on March 27.
But the one-page fax failed to report that he ditched the breakfast after a few minutes and a few too many steely stares, turning his back on one of our reporters.
Kruger also didn’t mention that he crashed the party: he was never invited to the affair, Council Executive Director Rabbi Echezel Pikus told us.
His previous constituent update, dated March 21 — 11 days after his arrest — was just as enlightening: it highlighted how he asked the city to look at problem intersections in his district and how he vowed to make combatting coastal erosion in Plumb Beach “a high priority” in the months to come.
