The Brooklyn Museum’s monthly First Saturday
series of free events continues on Aug. 6 with a Caribbean-themed
lineup that includes the Young Dancemakers Company (pictured),
performing original choreography at 5 pm.
This will be the last First Saturday event until Oct. 1, because
many events in the days prior to Labor Day’s Annual West Indian-American
Carnival will be held on the Brooklyn Museum’s grounds. (In fact,
the annual steel pan competition will be held in the museum’s
parking lot on Sept. 3.)
All of the events are free, but tickets for the films must be
picked up prior to the screenings at the Visitor Center in the
Grand Lobby of the museum (200 Eastern Parkway at Washington
Avenue in Prospect Heights). For a complete schedule of First
