Activists rushed to Coney Island’s Astroland this Sunday to rally in support of the doomed amusement park, which is slated to be demolished.

Last year, Astroland owner Carol Albert sold her land to developer Joe Sitt, who wants to create a $1.5-billion, Vegas-style amusement, entertainment, hotel and residential complex on the site.

Albert wants Sitt to give Astroland a one-year lease extension, but she claims he is asking for $3 million in rent — about $2.8 million more than she paid this year. For her, like the Chicken Little doll (right), the sky is falling.

Sitt’s spokesman, Stefan Friedman, said Sitt is asking for “considerably less,” but added that, either way, Sitt is “totally committed to having activities and games at Coney Island next summer.”
