Latest ‘green stree’ takes root here

Assemblyman Alan Maisel and Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Julius Spiegel officially inaugurated Brooklyn’s newest Green Street along Strickland Avenue in Mill Island.

Maisel has been actively encouraging the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to find suitable locations in his district where trees could be planted.

Strickland Avenue is the second area that has been designated for tree plantings. Flatbush Avenue by Kings Plaza was the first.

“I am very grateful that we have been able to develop this brand new Green Street. The addition of trees and flowers will beautify the area as well as reduce the level of pollution,” said Maisiel.

Any community resident who has any suggestions for additional plantings is encouraged to call Maisel’s district office at 718-968-2770.
