Arsonist bust
Call it a remake of the “Burning Bed:” A 32-year-old man was arrested on Feb. 7 after he torched his E. 94th Street home — beginning with his roommate’s bedroom.
The victim’s roommate told police that he was arguing with the suspect inside the home, which is between Farragut and Glenwood roads, when he grabbed a pack of matches and set a book on fire.
The 32-year-old then tossed the book on his victim’s bed, which was soon engulfed in flames.
The fire was put out, but not before most of the victim’s property was in cinders and the room sustained serious damage.
Bungling burglar
A 37-year-old burglar was nabbed on Feb. 7 after a botched break-in on an Avenue M doctor’s office.
Witnesses told police that they saw the thief inside a back office at about noon.
Cops apprehended the thief in short order — learning quickly that he was responsible for breaking into a Rockaway Parkway home between Avenues L and M on Jan. 18.
Cops charged the thief with two counts of burglary.
Brute busted
A 15-year-old was arrested after he brutally beat another teen on Feb. 4 — leaving his victim with a fractured skull.
The victim, who was hospitalized, told police that he was arguing with his assailant inside an E. 86th Street home between Foster Avenue and Farragut Road at 10:45 pm when the suspect lashed out with a metal weight and a hammer, hitting the victim in the head twice.
Cops charged the teen with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Building super killed
A violent thug knifed a building superintendent to death on Feb. 4 during an exchange in the E. 51st Street address.
Witnesses said that the suspect — who remains at large — attacked Shayne Sinclair inside the building between avenues K and L at 8:32 pm, stabbing him in the chest.
Responding paramedics rushed Sinclair to Brookdale Hospital, where he died of his injury.
By late Tuesday, there were conflicting reports as two what Sinclair was doing before the attack. One report has Sinclair going to an apartment to retrieve some tools he had left there. Another said he was collecting rent money from tenants.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. Calls can be made to the NYPD CrimeStoppers hotline at (800) 577-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
Mugger bust
Two thugs mugged a 44-year-old on Ralph Avenue on Jan. 27, but didn’t get away with their crime.
Police nabbed the two suspects shortly after the 11:50 pm theft near Foster Avenue, where they removed $50 from their victim.
