Christina’s Pizza in Mill Basin can now add film credentials to its menu.
Canarsie filmmaker Thomas La Sorsa selected the exterior of the pizzeria on Strickland and Mill avenues to shoot a scene for his new movie, “Circus Maximus,” featuring fellow boroughite Joe D’Onofrio and Sal Governale, a writer, who doubles as “Sal the Stockbroker” on the “Howard Stern Show.”
Named after the ancient Roman hippodrome, the movie is being shot on a shoestring budget with the actors working for free so that it can be filmed on 35mm film, which is more expensive than video but which, La Sorsa has said, will impart “warmth” and “beauty” to his project.
The movie focuses upon the travails of a mother and her 31-year-old son, which land them in the office of an attractive female psychiatrist.
