Lit up with the joys of the holidays

Seasonal goodwill, holiday songs and the lighting of a majestic pine ignited Yuletide celebrations in Boerum Hill.

The annual illumination, hosted by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC) drew a large crowd of neighbors and like-minded revelers for a program of cheer outside the Belarusian Church, Atlantic Avenue and Bond Street.

Choirs from Public School 38, 450 Pacific Street, and Public School 261, 314 Pacific Street, provided a sweet serenade and received a musical boost by Santa who jiggled his belt of bells to classic holiday tunes.

The occasion also served to announce winners of AALDC’s holiday design contest, which recognized local merchants for bedecking their storefronts to mark the season.

The ace adorners were: Blue Marble, 420 Atlantic Avenue, and Gumbo, 493 Atlantic Avenue, first and second place, respectively, “Greenest Window”; Dig, 479 Atlantic Avenue, “Most Enchanting Window”; and Rico, 372 Atlantic Avenue, and City Foundry, 365 Atlantic Avenue, first and second place, respectively, “Best Installation.”
