Lou Powsner is down for the count — but don’t count him out.
The prolific 92-year-old Courier Life columnist was hospitalized last week for a blood clot in his right leg, but said he’s close to being discharged from Beth Israel Medical Center on Kings Highway so he can hammer out — on his typewriter — his next heaping helping of thought-provoking copy.
“I’m in pain, but I’m determined to come out of the hospital soon,” Powsner said.
Previous illnesses haven’t slowed Powsner, whose “Speaks Out” column is published twice a month and runs the gamut of Brooklyn topics, from the decrepit Gowanus Expressway to the historic Coney Island Boardwalk, which was built three years after the former menswear maven was born.
America’s oldest continuously published columnist was last hospitalized three years ago.
