This Saturday, May 29, and
Sunday, May 30, Smack Mellon Gallery in DUMBO will host "In
Serenity, We Face," a program featuring the New York debut
of works by five performance groups from Tokyo.

The works range from the quietly comic to the abstractly violent,
exploring themes of identity, borders, transgression and suppression.
Presenting everything from movement theater to improvisational
cello music, the program includes works by Cuatro Gatos, Lens,
Masami Irumagawa, Yamada-Kohmuten and Morning Landscape.

The event is produced by Lens, an organization formed in 2000
by actors Miho Watanabe and Teru Sato.

The May 29 performances will be held from 4 pm to 9 pm, and
the May 30 performances will be held from 3 pm to 8 pm. The suggested
donation is $10. Smack Mellon Gallery is located at 56 Water
St. between Main and Dock streets in DUMBO. For more information,
