Brooklyn-born makeup artist Roxanna “Roxie” Floyd, who has beautified the faces of Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, and Yoko Ono, among many others, died in her sleep at her Clinton Hill home. She was 50 years old.
Floyd leaves behind a legacy of work covering every medium, including music videos, motion pictures, album covers, book jackets, more than 200 magazine covers, and fashion and beauty stories.
Floyd is survived by husband, Rick E. Ramos; mother Alberta “Bertha” Floyd; cousin/long-time assistant Anisha Gennnario; two sisters-in law, Audrey De Shong and Wanda Lewis; niece, Sydney Lewis; nephews Jordeyn Lewis and Cameron Lewis; Goddaughters Courtney, Jasmine, Simone and Danielle Bioh, as well as extended family, friends, and fans.
A viewing is slated for February 5, 3-6 p.m., followed by a wake, 6-7 p.m.The funeral will be February 6 at 10 a.m. Both will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 279 Lafayette Avenue, followed by interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
