Yeah, yeah, you know it was hot yesterday. And we know it’s going to be hot today. But the good news? Relief is on the way.
We hit near record temps yesterday — and today is expected to get up to 97 — but a nice summer thunderstorm is set to move in on Friday, drenching the temperatures down to the mid-80s.
And it’s Brooklyn-Queens Day — the single most sacred day on the civic calendar — so all the kids are off from school (hmm, we wonder what they’re doing while you’re in your air-conditioned office reading this).
Holiday celebrants should head to Iglesia Pentacostal on Knickerbocker Avenue at Starr Street in Bushwick for this morning’s festivities (they really get into Brooklyn-Queens Day there).
So for now, stay cool. There are designated “cooling centers” all over town — the mayor even stopped by one in the borough yesterday. To find one near you — and there is one near you — go to gis.nyc.gov/oem/cc/index.htm.
