Helix hang up
A convict was arrested on burglary charges last week when DNA recovered from a Nostrand Avenue crime scene came back to bite him.
Police said that someone broke into the home, which is between Tilden Avenue and Beverly Road, sometime after 8:45 am on Dec. 10, 2010, taking a laptop computer, some jewelry and a pair of shoes after forcing the front door lock.
Yet the thief left a pair of gloves behind. Crime scene investigators ultimately linked the DNA to a 44-year-old felon who had already been incarcerated for an unrelated crime.
Hit with machete
A 44-year-old was arrested on April 2 after he attacked another man on E. 55th Street.
The victim told police that the attacker — who he had an ongoing disagreement with — forced his way into his apartment, which is between Remsen and Clarkson avenues, at 7:30 am. The thug struck his victim with the dull end of his machete, leaving the man bruised, but not seriously harmed.
